Electric Oven Repair and Maintenance

Electric Oven Repair and Maintenance

Electric ovens and ranges are easy to fix because they don’t have many problems, and you can’t do much. The majority of repairs are replacements. It’s as simple as unplugging and plugging in a new part. Faulty heating elements cause the majority of electric range malfunctions.

Caution: Unplug or shut off the power by removing fuses at the main panel or another panel before working on an electric oven or range. The range fuse may be at a different panel. This panel can be in the basement, crawlspace, or another location. Disconnect the grounding wire if it is connected to the range. Make sure that the power is turned off.

Maintenance Fuses

This assembly is usually located under the cooktop of the range. This assembly can be found under the range’s cooktop. You can lift the top for some models to the fuse assembly. Or, lift the elements, remove drip pans, and check the sides of the cabinets. The fuse assembly is located on the back of the oven. This additional fuse system may allow components like the oven light and range heating elements to be fused individually. Take notice of the possibility of blown fuses if these features or components fail to function. Unscrew the fuse and replace it with a newer one with the same electrical rating. If the unit contains circuit breakers, press the reset button or the breaker, usually found on the control board.
