Samsung Refrigerator Repair Advice
Cooling not properly
Follow the troubleshooting instructions in your Samsung refrigerator’s owner’s guide. These tips will help you resolve most refrigerator cooling issues in Samsung fridges.
Check the air vents for obstructions
Items blocking the air vents can cause cooling problems in the refrigerator. Food containers should be moved away from the air vents in the refrigerator section. This will allow the air to flow freely throughout the compartment.
Turn on Energy Saving Mode
Samsung refrigerators often have an Energy Saver Mode that can increase the temperature in the fridge. If your model is equipped with this feature, turn it off. The refrigerator will return to its average operating temperature with this mode off.
Reset Control Board
The electronic control board of your Samsung refrigerator can malfunction if there is a power surge in the home. Unplug your refrigerator for five minutes, then plug it in again to restore power. You can use the house breaker to reset electrical power if the outlet is inaccessible. After resetting the electronic control board, the refrigerator should resume cooling typically.
How to Clean Condenser Coils
During everyday use, the condenser coils on the bottom of your refrigerator will collect dust. Dust on the condenser can prevent the coils from releasing heat into the air. This means that the refrigerator must work harder to keep cool. This results in a fridge with poor cooling and decreased efficiency. Do not neglect this vital maintenance task. If your pet sheds, at least twice a year or more often. Use these steps to clean your Samsung refrigerator’s condenser coils. Unplug your refrigerator or turn off its circuit breaker to disconnect the electrical power. Remove the front bottom grill to access the coils. You can remove the grill from many Samsung refrigerators by pulling it straight out.
Control settings
Samsung refrigerators usually have an Ice Maker Off Icon that lights up when turned off. It’s best to turn off the light for ice-making. See your owner’s guide for instructions. Ice On is a feature on all top-freezer models. This icon should be on if you wish to make ice in your freezer.
Cycle off the Ice Machine and then on
If you turn your icemaker off and on, it may begin to produce ice. There may also be a Test option on your icemaker. It may help to cycle the ice maker in its test mode. If these tips are not helpful, try resetting your Samsung refrigerator’s controls by unplugging its power cord for five minutes and then plugging in the cord again. Close the house circuit breaker that controls the fridge if it is difficult to get to. This will disconnect all electrical power for 5 minutes. Check if the ice maker is working again after resetting the circuit breaker.
Checking the Water Supply
Test to see if the water dispenser works. Suppose the fridge doesn’t have water, and the ice maker is not working. Use these DIY troubleshooting methods to restore water into the refrigerator: Remove your water filter. If your Samsung fridge has a bypass connector, insert it to stop water from leaking when dispensing it without the filter. Test the dispenser. If the water dispenser does not work, move on to the next steps. You should replace the filter if the water flows through the dispenser, even with the filter off. Make sure the water shut-off valve is fully opened. To clear debris preventing water from flowing, close the valve, then empty it. Check to make sure water streams from the dispenser. If it does not, move on to the next step in troubleshooting. Disconnect the water line and shut off the valve. Then, place the end in a bucket. You can then open the valve briefly to see if the water is flowing. If you don’t notice water streaming from the back, contact a professional plumber to repair the water supply that goes to your fridge.
